A Few Facts About Louisiana Crawfish
Every year, people in Southern Louisiana look forward with enthusiasm to springtime. That is when the “Cajun Crawfish Season” gets in full swing, and friends and family get together to enjoy this delicious Cajun delicacy.
The crawfish was designated the official state crustacean of Louisiana in 1983. Louisiana produces approximately 100 million pounds of crawfish per year. South Louisiana should be called the crawfish capital of the world, because that is the home of the best crawfish you can find.
Eat Authentic LA Crawfish
You might hear them called crawfish, crayfish, crawdads or mudbugs. No matter what you call them, always "Ask before you eat" to make sure that they are authentic Louisiana Crawfish.
Louisiana Crawfish is a seasonal product, and Crawfish are usually available in South Louisiana from mid-November through mid-July. The height of the crawfish season is March through June.
